Second Fit

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Well that didn’t seem too bad so let’s try another.

In the talk at the beginning of a CBT course one of the items covered is eye protection. In this it is pointed out that one of the reasons for wearing a visor is to keep flying debris out of your eyes.

The current “ZA” spec. for a visor is for one made in polycarbonate, the alternative “YA” being for acrylic. The vast majority of visors are to the higher “ZA” standard.

You can also fit a windscreen to your bike which could also be either acrylic or polycarbonate and one manufacturer has posted a comparison test between the two different materials here.

These are for a windscreen that is 6mm thick rather than the 2mm thickness of your visor but gives you an idea as to the comparative impact resistance between the two types.

In UK the common trade name for acrylic is “Perspex” and that for polycarbonate is “Lexan”.

Hello world!

Well, I don’t really know what I am doing here but we’ll give it a go.

Web site is now up on-line, have to see if it does any good bringing in business and that will depend on getting word of it out and getting links in.

One thing that I can do on this blog though is to use it to give links to videos on You Tube and Google that I find of interest and that I think that others may like as well but have not yet found.

Straight away are two giving a feel as to riding Why Ride 1? and Why Ride 2.

I like the old bikes and can remember riding back among Tritons, Tribsas, Norbsas and such.
