from beginners to advanced, cbt to direct access motorcycle training

Compulsory Basic Training

For beginners

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) is a motorcycle training course which must be completed before a learner motorcyclist in the United Kingdom is allowed to ride a motorcycle unaccompanied on the road with L-plates (or D-plates in Wales).

We hold our CBT courses on Saturday and Sunday of each week. The cost is £110 per CBT, including bike hire, insurance, and use of protective helmet and gloves. Please note that unlike many other schools, if we don't feel you are up to standard on the first day you will be invited back for a second day of training at no extra charge to bring you up to standard.

Find out more about Compulsory Basic Training (CBT), or drop us a line to book one now.

Pre-Test Training

For riders with CBT

If you have already completed your CBT within the last 2 years, we can help you to achieve test standards for your full license.

Following on from your CBT we offer lessons aimed at getting you riding to a standard above that required to pass your Practical test.

Lessons are available Monday to Friday and are each of one hours duration. All lessons are on a One to One basis, XS do not do group sessions. The last lesson of the day is the 6:00pm until 7:00pm session.

Lessons using our 125cc Suzuki GX125 are £21 per hour.

If you are taking a Direct Access course then lessons are £27 per hour when using our 500cc Kawasaki ER5.

If you already have your own bike you are welcome to use it instead of ours.

A CBT using your own bike is £90 and lessons are £19 per hour.

Refresher Training

For born again bikers and current license holders

Many of us passed the motorcycle practical test years ago, rode a bike for a couple of years and then had to give up because of family responsibilities. Circumstances might have changed since then and now you feel that you'd like to get another bike.

This is a not uncommon occurence BUT! - - - It's been a long time since you've ridden a bike, traffic has changed and bikes have become more powerful and faster since you last rode.

Riding a motorbike is like riding a pedal bike in that you do not forget how to do it BUT your old skills become rusty and will need polished up again.

Because of this it's a good idea to take some lessons to get your hand in again and be shown how things have altered, rather than discovering them the hard way.

We will happily arrange such a course to suit your personal needs at our normal rates.
